As some of you may know, I lost my first nail artist love, @basecoattopcoat to the west coast last December. I thought all hope was lost, until Kelly referred me to her colleague, Misleidys, and she worked this Saturnalia magic on my nails last week. I think I’m gonna be just fine. :)
Misleidys is also at Valley NYC and you can follow her on Instagram here. I knew I wanted Saturn-themed nails after my Jupiter ones, so I went in with a selection of images taken by NASA’s Cassini spacecraft (during its tenure at the ringed planet). When it comes to Saturn, the more abstract the better in my opinion. I especially love the images that are just lines and dots because they look like minimalist art and it’s hard to believe things really look like that!

TBT to just over a year ago when I designed these Saturn nails inspired by NASA’s Cassini mission. While most of us slept last night (at least on the east coast), the Cassini spacecraft embarked on its Grand Finale tour with a rock star dive though a gap in Saturn’s rings.
From NASA’s press release:
As it dove through the gap, Cassini came within about 1,900 miles (3,000 kilometers) of Saturn’s cloud tops (where the air pressure is 1 bar – comparable to the atmospheric pressure of Earth at sea level) and within about 200 miles (300 kilometers) of the innermost visible edge of the rings.
Oh to be a fly on the wall for that. Or an astronaut fly or something… ;)
I might have to get Saturn nails, part deux when this is all over (which I never want it to be).
😔💔
